School’s not back in session yet, which means there’s still time to hit the beach, the pool, or a last minute vacation. If you’ve gotten a little too sun kissed, then this is for you.

Sunburns are no fun. Your skin feels hot to the touch, gets itchy, makes you prone to hot and cold flashes. Yeah, we’ve sooooooo been there. Your first instinct might be to reach for after lotion or oils, which actually hold the heat in, making your skin feel even hotter, or grab that neon green tube of “aloe” gel, which is full of alcohol that although cooling initially, will actually dry your skin out and make you even itchier!

That’s why you need to reach for this all natural cooling spray. It’s packed with super ingredients like aloe vera gel and essential oils to soothe, cool, and heal your sun burn. It’s a zip to whip up and can give you (and your skin) the healthy relief needed.

Here’s what you need:

Homemade After-Sun Spray

Ingredients:

1/2 cup witch hazel
2 tablespoons pure aloe vera gel
10 drops of pure lavender essential oil
10 drops of pure peppermint essential oil
4 oz (or larger) spray bottle

Instructions:

Combine all ingredients and mix well. Pour into spray bottle, shake well, and apply generously to skin that needs cooling. Be sure to avoid spraying around the eyes, as it will sting. Reapply as often as needed for relief. Stash in the fridge for an even more instant cooling effect. Spray should keep in the fridge for up to one month.
