When one thinks of yoga, typically images of peaceful gardens, gentle body flow, sitar music and chanting might come to mind, not heavy metal rock. In fact, this type of cult rock seems to run contra to all things we think we know about yoga. But isn’t that us being judgy yogis?
Yoga teaches us to unite, to come together as a community, and set personal preference aside. Yoga also reaches us that it for everybody–there are no prerequisites to yoga. So why are we, as yogi practitioners, imposing our own stereotypes and requirements on what it means and looks like to do yoga?
